Job Overview:
The Certified Medical Assistant performs routine clinical and clerical task under the direction of the program director/manager, physician or other health practitioner.
Clinical duties may include taking and reporting vital signs, medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, processing prescription refills and assist with minor procedures as directed by physician or health practitioner.
Clerical duties may include answering office phones, making patient appointments, reviewing charge orders, in all hospital/physician financial systems.
Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.
e.
damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
Qualifications:
Required:
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)Six (6) months to one (1) year of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experienceMust obtain certification within six (6) months to one (1) year from date of hireBLS through American Heart AssociationAttendance of classes that educate and improve medical service skills on a yearly basis and produce supporting documentationPreferred:
Previous medical assistant experience or backgroundBilingual a plusScheduling Requirements:
Full-TimeDay ShiftTravel to MMC in Long Branch for coverage may be required
Essential Functions:
Assists physicians with patient treatment and minor surgeriesCommunicate with insurance carriers to obtain authorizations for procedures and pharmaceuticalsHandles patient s requests for medical information, copies of medical records, refills, test results, etc.
as instructed by the physician with signature, obtains patient release forms in accordance with patient confidentiality and medical record release policies.
Schedule testing (in or out of office) Call in patient s prescriptions to pharmaciesMaintain inventory of medical and pharmaceutical supplies, order and stock as needed.
Maintain drug cabinetMaintains patient files, records and other information.
Assist with making patient appointments in systems such as :
Cerner, EPIC, SCINotify patient of change in medications/diet and reminders regarding appointments.
Monitor patients need for weekly and/or monthly testsNotify physician of any situation they determine emergentPerforms routine medical testing, i.
e.
blood testing, ekgs, pulmonary function tests, spiromotery tests, hearing, vision (including color blindness test), urinalysis, rapid strep tests and drug screening, injections and vaccinationsPrepare lab requests forms and tests to be forwarded to lab.
Post lab results and file in patients filesPrepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instrumentsPrepares patients for examination and treatment.
Takes patients brief history and vital signsPrepares used instruments and medical equipment for autoclavingReports patient complaints to supervisorResponsible for obtaining authorizations for our patient s outpatient testing ie:
radiology and cardiac testingResponsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods, referring questionable situations to the immediate supervisor or othersTelephones patient follow-up on their condition after office visit as per the physician s instructionsBenefits and Perks:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
